Lauren Goodger argues with NHS worker over not staying at home as she’s slammed for ‘using coronavirus to make a fashion statement’

Lauren Goodger has been criticised by NHS workers for defying government orders to stay home and using the coronavirus to make a ‘fashion statement’ amid the ongoing pandemic.

The former TOWIE star, 33, received backlash from health service employees after she shared a photo of herself wearing a face mask while out and about in Buckhurst Hill, Essex earlier this week.

The snap drew swift condemnation from some social media users who said that Lauren was being ‘selfish’ for going outside when the government have advised people to stay indoors and practice social distancing.

One Instagram user wrote: ‘You are not meant to be out. So so selfish. Did you seriously not think before posting this? I work for the NHS. People are dying. Please delete this and please stay indoors.’

Lauren responded by saying she was on her way to work at her beauty salon and would continue to do so until the government announces salons must be closed.

She fired back: ‘I am working please shut up. Until the government and NHS say all salons must close, until then I am working! [sic]’

Another user waded into the argument and said: ‘Telling someone who is working for the NHS to shut up. Lovely. Salons are not needed right now and even if you do work, you don’t need to advertise you out and about all over Insta!’

Not one to back down, Lauren replied: ‘Go and put your hate and negativity elsewhere! What type of person that works for the NHS wants to write hate on a celeb’s page! Disgrace!’

The discussion did not cease there however as the reality star was also criticised for wearing her mask as a ‘fashion statement’.

One user wrote: ‘I’m sorry but I’m NHS front line and seeing this as a ‘fashion’ item makes me so disappointed. Not having a go at Lauren but it’s just the idea this is funny for the gram.’

Another said: ‘Trying to make a fashion statement… Very insensitive in this time of crisis. Unfortunately for us A&E nurses and mere mortals, we don’t look quite as glam as this when caring for people infected. No excuse for a fashion show.’

Another user added: ‘Really put yourself in it with this one haven’t you! Remember when you had a turn at Christmas or New Year and the NHS looked after you? You did your appreciative post of how well they looked after you.

‘Yet now you are replying to NHS workers in such a childish and arrogant way! This is the most ridiculous post I have ever seen! I’ve never commented on a “celeb’s” post before, but at this moment in time we are all one people and this is shocking, you should be ashamed of yourself!’

Lauren responded to this comment with: ‘What you talking about?! Again another wrong comment. Yous mentioned it to me, not the other way around [sic].’

A representative for Lauren declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.

Lauren shared on Instagram on Thursday night that she was offering cosmetic procedures at a discounted price on Friday as businesses suffer amid the coronavirus crisis.

Earlier this week the star joked that she’d be ‘pregnant by the end of the week’ if she had a boyfriend to self-isolate with during the pandemic.

The TV star shared snaps of herself in a dressing gown as she lounged on her sofa, while abiding current legislation and staying indoors.

Lauren cheekily joked about how she would keep busy with a man if she was forced to stay in ‘quarantine’ with her other-half while the crisis rages on.

Despite currently being single, Lauren admitted she was ‘actually looking forward’ to spending some time at home, as she plugged a new diet box that was due to arrive.

She added: ‘If I had a boyfriend def be preg by end of the week hahahaa #quarantine #selfisolate.’
