Studio 10’s Denise Scott reveals family crisis almost made her quit filming last year

‘To say I was anxious was putting it mildly’: Studio 10’s Denise Scott reveals secret family crisis almost made her quit TV commitments

Studio 10’s Denise Scott has revealed how a family crisis almost led to her quitting filming for SBS documentary series Who Do You Think You Are? in May 2019.

The 65-year-old contemplated abandoning production amid the home emergency as she traced her family tree for an upcoming episode of the genealogy show.

‘I was very worried about a family member who was in trouble,’ Denise told The Sydney Morning Herald on Sunday, ahead of her episode airing on June 16.

The comedian continued: ‘I was really trying to concentrate on my job there, which was to absorb my past. To say I was anxious was putting it mildly.’

She continued: ‘I did not know whether to keep filming or not.

‘Anyway, I kept filming and the amazing thing was, I felt this connection to family way, way back and a real strength coming from that.’

Denise admitted she was quite close-minded when she started filming Who Do You Think You Are? – expecting to find nothing of interest in her family history.

‘I arrogantly assumed there wasn’t much to tell. Everybody’s family has a story to tell. It’s cliched, but I felt really humbled by the whole process,’ she added.

However, despite the hesitations, her journey on the show was filled with surprises.
