Natalie Barr has revealed that her family has personally been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. 

The journalist told The Daily Telegraph on Friday that her husband Andrew Thompson’s business has been affected. 

The 52-year-old said: ‘It was a personal because like everyone else’s family, it was affecting my family.

‘My husband has a business in the entertainment industry and it had to go into hibernation,’ she added. 

The Sunrise host added that she relates to many Australians struggling due to the pandemic’s effect on the economy.  

‘The whole entertainment and advertising industry shut down worldwide, so they had no work. They had to stand down all their staff,’ she said.

Andrew is an Oscar-nominated film and television editor best known for his short film The Eleven O’Clock. 

The couple married in 1995 and they share two children: Lachlan, born in 2001, and Hunter, born in 2005. 

Natalie has been a presenter on breakfast show Sunrise since 2003.

Natalie celebrated 25 years at Channel Seven earlier this year, however her career in journalism actually began at the Wanneroo Times in 1987. 

In an interview with Yahoo! Lifestyle, Natalie revealed she was the ‘fittest [she’s] ever been’ after embracing a ‘back to basics’ approach to her health.

‘I exercise regularly, eat well most of the time, cut out sugar and make sure I get enough sleep,’ she said.
