Jessica Simpson penned a heartfelt update to fans about feeling driven to her ‘knees in prayer’ amid nationwide protests after the killing of George Floyd last week.

In addition to joining millions around the world by posting a black square for her #BlackoutTuesday post, the 39-year-old singer-turned-businesswoman spoke of turning to her faith.

‘I am listening to the testimonies crying out. I am hearing God’s anointed power in the hearts that are steadfast,’ she captioned her emotional post on Tuesday via Instagram. ‘I am hopeful that God will deliver the souls of the righteous who are crushed in spirit.

She also revealed the difficulties which led to divorcing ex-husband Nick Lachey and her journey to sobriety with husband of five years, Eric Johnson.

Simpson shares three children with Johnson – eldest daughter Maxwell, eight, son Ace, six and one-year-old daughter Birdie.

‘I wrote [Open Book] thinking if it could help one person get through their struggle it would be worth it. To find out that I have sold enough copies to make me the #1 New York Times best seller is humbling and surreal,’ she wrote after topping the charts.

The Irresistible singer has also worked hard to put her health first, as she has successfully maintained her remarkable triple-digit weight loss, after giving birth to her third child Birdie Mae, in March 2019.

Last week, her trainer Harley Pasternak said after she ‘tipped the scales at 240 lbs’ postpartum, before they created a sustainable plan for her health and wellness goals.

‘It had to be more than just getting back from her baby weight, but how do I keep whatever I am doing now forever,’ he explained to E! News
