Dr Alex George has been lauded by fans for his tireless work on the NHS front line during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Love Island star, 30, has been working as an A&E doctor in Lewisham throughout the pandemic, while many of his reality TV pals flout the rules by jetting to Dubai and claiming their trips were ‘work related.’
A post praising Alex’s work during the pandemic was shared on social media on Friday, and quickly gained traction as others thanked him for using his platform in a positive manner.

The post was originally shared by meme page, Archbishop of Banterbury and featured Alex dressed in full PPE including a mask and visor during another lengthy shift in A and E.
The caption read: ‘While almost every other Love Island influencer is partying in Dubai, lets take a moment to appreciate Dr Alex who is still working on the frontlines in hospital for the NHS. This is how to be an influencer.’
Quickly the post received thousands of likes, with even Alex himself thanking his fans for their kind words.

Later Alex took to Instagram to reveal he’d been overwhelmed with fans’ support, writing: ‘Wow. Just wow. Really feeling the love today. I wish I could reply to you all. Thank you. Just thank you.’
In a video Alex posted to Instagram Stories he added: ‘I’ve just trying to my best throughout this pandemic and stuff, and I feel a sense of responsibility that comes with it, thanks to everyone who’s doing their best across the NHS and keyworkers and stuff, I think it’s awesome to recognise these people. Thank you so much.’

Alex rose to prominence in 2018 following his appearance in the Love Island villa, but has since returned to work at the NHS, alongside TV appearances offering medical advice and guidance.
Since the pandemic Alex has offered much insight into the struggles the NHS has faced with the rise in cases.

Earlier this week Alex admitted he ‘felt quite emotional’ after receiving the Covid vaccine.
Taking to Instagram to share the milestone, Dr Alex said NHS workers have all ‘been hoping ‘a vaccine ever since this virus appeared’ and receiving it gave him hope.
Sharing a photo in medical overalls with his sleeve rolled up, Dr Alex said: ‘I HAVE HAD THE VACCINE!! We have all been hoping for a vaccine ever since this virus appeared.
‘Felt quite emotional having the jab, it has been a hard year! I am so glad there is light at the end of the tunnel.
‘Huge thanks to Chris, one of the hospital pharmacists, for giving me the injection and to everyone working so hard to roll this out.
‘It was a quick jab then back to work for me! Full disclosure I was given a star sticker for having the vaccine and being a good boy Onwards.’

The positive news comes after the doctor admitted being on the frontline for a second time round is ‘tough’ on Lorraine on Tuesday.
The media personality detailed his experience of working at Lewisham A&E as he said: ‘There’s growing pressures, growing numbers, I think there’s a great concern how many patients are being admitted to hospital.
‘I hate to be negative, but we are finding it tough to be honest. In the last week or so, we’ve had times when we’re really been at the game stick in terms of space and capacity. We have some room for expansion but there’s always a limit.
‘We need to be so careful and reduce how many cases there are and the spread of this virus. We don’t want to see a situation where we have to turn people away from intensive care.’
The TV star, who had recently announced his plans to leave his job after five years to begin a ‘fresh chapter’ training as a GP, confessed he and his colleagues are ‘burned out’ and claimed there are more staff who have contracted the virus.
The Welshman added: ‘It’s a big part of what’s tough at the moment. First time around we were all very energised, now there are more staff with Covid, burned out. It’s gone on for a longer period of time.
‘We do have a good arsenal, good treatments. We are in a position where we can at least have optimism, there is a way out.
‘Having that light at the end of the tunnel, you can feel that in the work place. Back in March and April, we didn’t know when this would end.’
