How a penniless Married At First Sight bride became a successful property developer

She’s a successful single mum to two young boys, and on Tuesday’s episode of Married At First Sight, Samantha Harvey revealed her rags-to-riches story.

The 31-year-old property developer revealed she had just $1.50 to her name when she walked out on her husband of 10 years after discovering he’d been cheating. 

Samantha said she’s not afraid of hard work, and revealed she started developing properties after her divorce.

‘It was all great at the start and it was like the picture perfect family,’ she said of her marriage.

Becoming emotional, Samantha recounted holding her baby on her hip as her toddler ran around, pinpointing the exact moment she discovered her husband was cheating on her.

She said her ex’s affairs had been going on ‘for more than five years’, and branded the realisation ‘so humiliating’.  

‘I got the two kids and I was out. I think I had $1.50 left in my account. I felt like I had failed the kids,’ she continued.  

‘All I could afford at the time was the s**ttiest house you’ve ever seen in your life…

‘I actually would take the boys to the tip to buy our furniture. It was squalor. That’s not where I wanted to end up.’

Samantha said she initially Googled ‘how to tile’, before watching a series of YouTube video tutorials.

‘I did everything I could to save money and also try and make this house livable for the boys and me,’ she added.

She admitted that even though her sons ‘come first, before everything’, she still feels ‘lonely’ and ‘sad’.  

‘I don’t know where to start to try and find somebody…’ she confessed.

‘Since my world got broken down, I haven’t opened myself up to fall in love because I’ve always gone 50 per cent in so I don’t get hurt.’

She said her ideal partner is someone who has ‘country values’, is loyal and has strong morals.
