Stacey Solomon says she won’t take fiancé Joe Swash’s last name when married

Stacey Solomon has revealed that she won’t take her fiancé Joe Swash’s last name when married as she wants to have the same surname as her children.

The Loose Women star, 31, has Zachary, 12, and Leighton, eight, from previous relationships and shares Rex, 22 months, with her husband-to-be, 39.

Stacey, who is set to marry Joe during a ‘small’ ceremony in July, admitted that she could be persuaded to have a double-barrelled last name.

Talking to Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2 about her upcoming wedding, the TV personality said: ‘It is a really funny one, obviously Joe would love me to have his second name.

‘Nothing wrong with his second name but because of kids I want to have the same surname as the kids,’ she added: ‘Maybe I will double-barrel it?’

The TV star has Zachary with ex Dean Cox, Leighton with ex Aaron Barham and 22-month-old Rex with fiancé Joe.

Stacey admitted that she was left ‘heartbroken’ after her sister Gemma changed her surname once she got married to husband Lee.

She continued: ‘When my sister got married I felt a bit heartbroken, like “You aren’t my full sister anymore?”.’

The interview comes after Stacey revealed that her three sons will give her away with her father at her ‘small’ summer wedding to fiancé Joe.

The Loose Women star also admitted that she is trying to ‘stay positive’ during planning amid the current Covid restrictions surrounding marriage ceremonies.

Earlier this month, Boris Johnson warned June 21 is the earliest possible date for full-size weddings but even then it will be subject to a review of the Government’s ‘four tests’.

Stacey’s pet dogs Theo and Peanut will also be involved, wearing custom-made suits and bow ties.

The presenter also admitted that if the ‘worst comes to the worst’ amid the pandemic restrictions, she will still marry Joe over the summer even if they only have a ceremony of six.

She told Hello!: ‘It’s going really well and I’m really enjoying it, I’m trying to stay as positive as possible. I know the reality of the situation is that we might not even be allowed to get married this year, let alone have the people that we want there.

‘But me and Joe have spoken about it. There are people in our lives who we don’t think we will, unfortunately, have much time left with.

‘So if worst comes to worst, and we can only have a wedding of six, then we will get married with those special people because it’s really important to us to have certain people there.’

Stacey added that they are planning for a ‘small’ wedding with another ceremony once ‘everything’s settled’. The star admitted that they are waiting to see what the Prime Minister says about weddings before inviting more people.

She also shared that her Loose Women co-stars and pals, which include Nadia Sawalha, Jane Moore, Kaye Adams and Christine Lampard, will all be invited to her bigger ceremony.

Elsewhere during the interview, Stacey revealed that she has been unable to have any wedding dress fittings due to the pandemic and that she has had to send her measurements and ideas to her tailor.

Stacey added that ‘FaceTime fittings’ may have to be an option and that she likes the idea of capped sleeves, tulle and sparkle on her gown.

The new interview comes after the Loose Women star couldn’t hold back the tears of joy when her wedding with Joe got confirmed for after lockdown in July.

‘I’m having a little cry… It actually feels real now,’ the singer told her Instagram followers on Saturday after she and her fiancé received the happy news.

The emotional post came after Stacey received an email confirmation with the date and time of their much anticipated ceremony.

‘Just got this email through and I’m having a little cry… Joe defo has “watery eyes” as well… it actually feels real now,’ said the Loose Women panellist.
