The Total Eclipse Of The Heart songstress, 69, wowed fans with her youthful appearance during a virtual interview on This Morning on Monday.

Her good looks caused quite a stir on Twitter, as well as the fact she drank champagne during the chat – which took place at 11 in the morning – with some viewers branding the interview ‘bonkers’.

‘I haven’t had the opportunity since the Christmas before last. But I’m doing all right. I’m quite fit for my age, thank God.

Bonnie also indicated that she feels as young as she looks as she vowed she would never retire.

‘I’m never going to retire,’ she said. ‘I look at Tom Jones. He’s amazing. His voice is as strong as ever — and he’s got ten years on me.’

She also explained that the glass of champagne she quaffed during the This Morning interview was ‘unexpected’ as it was simply handed to her by her husband Rob to celebrate St David’s Day.

Bonnie made the TV appearance to promote her upcoming album, The Best Is Yet To Come, from her home in the Algarve in Portugal.

Speaking to Classic Pop magazine last month, she revealed she worked with a host of talented artists on the album, saying: ‘Well, I’m a rock girl at heart. And Steve Womack, he just knows what suits me.

He’s written some of the great songs on there. He has a real Bruce Springsteen kind of full rock sound.’

However, not all the songs would have been Bonnie’s first choice as when she first heard some of the tunes, she thought she would be too old to sing them.

She explained: ‘The very first time I heard Call Me Thunder, I do remember saying to David Mackay, ‘I just love this song, but the lyrics are so young and passionate…’

‘I thought that it wouldn’t suit me, but it really does.’

The I Need A Hero singer reunited with Mackay and bassist Kevin Dunne – who both collaborated with Bonnie on her early records – and thought it was ‘fate’ they were bought back together.

She added: ‘It’s fate really that we got back together. And you know what, it’s not all about work. At the end of the day, David’s wife cooks a lovely dinner and we have beautiful Champagne and wine. It’s fun!’
