Inside SAS Australia 2021’s brand new base camp in the Blue Mountains

The new season of SAS Australia is set to start filming in a matter of weeks.

And after the 18 new recruits were announced on Monday, it appears Channel Seven have chosen a whole new – and much warmer – location for their celebrities to film at this season.

A brand new training ground and base camp has been pictured in the Blue Mountains, where foothills start around 50km west from Sydney.

Epic photos appear to show a huge building for the celebrities to reside in, and fields as far as the eye can see for gruelling endurance challenges to take place.

A large tarmac area with a stage was also visible – a place where lead trainer Ant Middleton has been known to torment recruits in the past.

There are a few more buildings further down – perhaps for the cast or crew to stay in – and fully functioning portaloos on site.

The location is set amid an abundance of trees and rolling mountains, meaning it would be hard for a member of the public to simply stumble across.

Seven appeared have ditched last year’s filming location of Jindabyne in the Snowy Monaro Regional hundreds of kilometres south of the 2021 camp, where temperatures could reach as low as minus three degrees.

In the Blue Mountains, the average temperature is about 16 degrees in winter, with the lowest chance of snow occurring in early to mid-May – right when filming is set to begin.

Daily Mail Australia have contacted Seven for further comment.

While minimal details have been revealed about this year’s location, the 2020 base camp was created using corrugated iron structures which provided little warmth for the show’s contestants.

Built on an isolated sheep station, there was originally no structures on the camp site with the buildings erected for the show.

At the end of each bed was a metal trunk with a bucket on top, and a row of wooden drying racks lined the centre of the room.

It comes after Seven announced the full line-up for the military-style competition on Monday, and it features a mixture of famous and controversial participants.
