He’s been living a quiet and private life away from the Hollywood spotlight in Sydney with his family.

But Sacha Baron Cohen returned to the spotlight on Saturday, as he made a surprise appearance at a comedy club in Moore Park’s Entertainment Quarter.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the British funnyman, 49, dressed as his alter ego Borat and surprised fans as he arrived on stage at the end of the showcase.

He reportedly performed two comedy showcases at the comedy club, with each set lasting for 20 minutes.

An audience member told The Daily Telegraph, everyone was required to put their phone in ‘locked pouches’ before Sacha came on stage – presumably to prevent the performance being leaked online.

‘[Sacha] had everyone in stitches,’ the onlooker said.
