Jason Derulo has split from his girlfriend Jena Frumes, just days after putting on a romantic display for his birthday, and four months after welcoming their first child together.
The 32-year-old singer – who celebrated his birthday on Tuesday with Jena and their four-month old son – announced the news via his Twitter account on Thursday.
Jena, 28, had wished Jason a happy birthday in a gushing post yesterday – saying she would ‘love him forever’ and just two nights ago, the former couple were pictured all smiles and holding hands in LA.
But now Jason has called things off, tweeting: ‘Jena and I have decided to part ways. She is an amazing mother but we feel being apart at this time will allow us to be the best versions of ourselves and the best parents we could be. Pls respect our privacy in this time.’

For her gushing birthday post on Wednesday, Jena wrote on Instagram: ‘Happy birthday @jasonderulo ! Blessed to share the same day of birth with my lover. You are the most handsome, hardworking, talented, silly, loving human ever.’
She went on: ‘You truly make me whole and I’m so grateful for the love we share. You and our mini make me the happiest girl in the world and I can’t wait to make more memories with you guys. I know I’m a tough cookie but you make me soft and accept me for who I am and I’m forever grateful for that. Cheers to another year! I love you so much, forever.’
Jason revealed he and Jena had welcomed their first child together in May this year.

Jena also confirmed that she gave birth to Jason on May 8, 2021 in a slideshow capturing his first few days of life.
‘A glimpse of my first week with our healthy handsome little king,’ Jena captioned the post. ‘Life now has so much more meaning & I am so grateful. I’m so so so in love with this little boy he’s everything I never knew I needed. 05/08/2021. I love you forever @jasonderulo.’
The slideshow included a photo of her holding the child not long after giving birth to him. The couple announced Jena’s pregnancy less than two months ago on his Instagram account, where he posted video of himself kissing her growing bump.

Jason previously dated singer Jordin Sparks dated for three years, before ending their relationship in September 2014.
Interestingly, fans were surprised to learn around this time that Derulo broke things off with Sparks, as just months earlier he had gifted her with 10,000 orange roses (her favourite color) for Valentine’s Day.
Sparks revealed in an interview later that the relationship ended abruptly after they had a ‘small fight’ one night, and she left for a trip the following day.
The American Idol winner claimed that Derulo gave her a kiss goodbye, told her he loved her, then never called her again.

She also claimed that a third party was brought it to retrieve Derulo’s belongings from her house.
At the time, model Carmen Ortega claimed to having an affair with Derulo while he was with Sparks.
‘We dated for a month,’ she told Star. ‘We went out in public with friends a few times, so I assumed he didn’t have a girlfriend.’
He denied rumors that he was unfaithful by telling Us Weekly: ‘Infidelity, cheating or deceit played no part in our relationship or our break-up.’

Over the years, he appears to have matured when it comes to breakups and even managed to stay friends with Daphne Joy, who he dated for six months.
After their split, he even sent her songs he wrote about their relationship, which helped him express his feelings better.
During his romance with Joy, he said she often would tell him he wasn’t ‘talking’ to her and they struggled with communication.
‘Where somebody may be a better talker than me, through a song, I’m able to explain anything,’ he told People in 2016.

The following year, Derulo opened up about trying on trying be more private in his relationships.
‘Of course, it’s hard because you’re in the public eye, but you can be a little more private if you so desire,’ he told People. ‘You don’t have to profess your love to the world — just profess your love to that one loved one.’
As for his breakup rituals, he confesses to indulging in ‘ice cream, Netflix, donuts.’
‘Gain 10 pounds and then you go on a crazy gym thing, trying to get your ex back by looking good,’ he joked.
