The Walking Dead: Alpha marches captive Negan into woods and has sex with him in midseason premiere

The Walking Dead’s mid-season premiere delivered an unexpected turn for viewers as The Whisperer’s leader Alpha and her captive Negan had sex.   

Alexandria residents Magna and Connie were also possibly killed on the season 10 episode, called Squeeze, becoming casualties of Carol Peletier’s desire to destroy Alpha.

As Carol [Melissa McBride] was busy plotting, Alpha [Samantha Morton] was getting close with Negan [Jeffrey Dean Morgan], who had helped her pinpoint a spy inside her camp.

Alpha approached Negan and explained that she wanted to reward him for exposing Gamma’s treachery to her.

‘You’re a crass man,’ she told him during their moment along in the forest. ‘I reckoned you might appreciate a crass reward.’

‘Are you just gonna leave that mask on?’ Negan asked, looking delighted.

‘Does my true skin disturb you?’ Alpha asked, approaching him. 

‘Not at all,’ Negan grinned. ‘Weirdly, the opposite.’ He started to kiss her, then paused, saying, ‘Wait, wait. This isn’t some sort of uh, praying mantis situation, is it? You cut off my head afterwards?’

Alpha didn’t answer, and Negan realized he was okay with not knowing. ‘Ah, you know what?’ he said. ‘It’s been a long time. I reckon I will take my chances.’

‘Stop. Talking,’ Alpha replied, kissing him.

The Whisperers’ leader has fought a vicious battle against the main survivors, whom she has variously attacked, scared and beheaded to keep them away from her land.

Before the show’s November hiatus, the survivors tracked Alpha’s zombie horde to the edge of a forest, tipped off by Gamma [Thora Birch], a Whisperer who’d gone rogue.

Carol suddenly spotted Alpha and ran after her into a cave, followed by her fellow survivors, but they all plunged into a dark hole filled with zombies.

As Alpha stared down at them, the zombies crowded the survivors, threatening to kill them.

Aaron [Ross Marquand] suggested leaping onto giant rocks that peppered their path, reaching a cave wall that could have an opening to the outside.

After several nerve-wracking jumps, everyone made it across, though a zombie tried to drag down Connie’s sister Kelly [Angel Theory].

‘What the hell were you thinking? Running off like that by yourself,’ an incensed Magna [Nadia Hilker] asked Carol. 

Daryl Dixon [Norman Reedus] told them to concentrate on finding a way out, but moments later he broached the same topic with Carol.

‘It’s like I can’t even turn my back on you anymore,’ he told her. ‘I begged you talk to me. I want to be there for you. I do. I don’t know what to do anymore.’

Carol’s eyes welled with tears as she thought about the Whisperers’ execution of her friends and her beloved ‘son,’ Henry.

‘I can’t stop thinking about it,’ she shared. ‘I don’t want to just kill Alpha. I want to hurt her. I want to make her regret everything. I want to make her beg for forgiveness, and then I want to kill her.’

Daryl told Carol he would feel the same way in her place, but cautioned her that unless she left her vendetta behind, she would end up hurting other people she cared about.

Carol haltingly told him she knew she had to stop, and Daryl interrupted her.

‘You gotta not bulls*** me,’ he said. ‘You gotta promise. I gotta know we’re on the same team. We fight for our future. We don’t fight for revenge.’

‘I promise,’ Carol said after a moment, sighing and leaning against him.

As the survivors searched for a way out, Alpha was trying to figure out how they’d even gotten close to the location of her precious horde.

She told Gamma, her third-in-command, to let the people of Alexandria know the survivors ‘failed’ to find her zombies.

Alpha also thought that they had sent a spy to infiltrate her camp, and wondered who it was.

Negan later confronted Alpha as she hit ‘the latrine’ at the edge of camp, and suggested the spy was someone she knew, something she found unthinkable.

‘I had people,’ Negan emphasized, referring to his time as leader of the terrifying group The Saviors. ‘I had a system. Thought they believed in it, just like you.’

‘See, the thing is, you stay king or queen long enough, with people telling you all day, every day, that your s*** don’t stink? Eventually you start to believe it,’ he said. ‘The thing is, it still stinks.’

Negan advised Alpha to look for the spy ‘close to home,’ suggesting that it could be Gamma.

‘She is close enough to you that she knows exactly where that horde was, but she guards the border, which means that she’s close enough to the enemy that they could have gotten to her,’ he observed.

Alpha put a knife to Negan’s crotch, warning him not to ‘sow paranoia’ among her troops.

‘If you breathe a word of this to anyone,’ she murmured, pressing the knife closer to his testicles, ‘I will take these.’

She shoved him back into the latrine’s open pile of feces, and flies buzzed around his body.

His words had made an impact, though, and Alpha sent Beta [Ryan Hurst] to find Gamma, promising him that if she were a spy, she would be summarily dealt with.

She returned then to Negan and had him march through the woods, looking straight ahead.

‘This feels like some sort of fraternity initiation,’ he joked. ‘Is that what this is? Am I going to get my skin suit and finally get to learn the secret Whisperer handshake?’

‘Eyes front,’ she insisted, and forced him to keep marching.

‘I’m big enough to admit it,’ Negan went on. ‘I am not good with long, uncomfortable silences.’

‘Stop here,’ Alpha said, instructing him to keep ‘eyes front.’ ‘Take off your clothes.’

‘S***,’ Negan cursed under his breath, complying even as he sensed he might be executed.

‘You know what?’ he declared. ‘I made myself into a monster, because that is what the world needed. I built something. I saved people. My name? It meant something.’

‘Turn around,’ Alpha demanded of the now-naked Negan, who did so slowly, saying ‘Whoa.’

She also had stripped off her clothes and approached him, and after a few moments, they embraced.

Back inside the cave, Magna was hunting for an exit, holding up a lit match to detect a breeze.

Suddenly she was attacked by Whisperers who’d entered the cave, and a skirmish with ‘the skins’ ensued.

‘At least we know there’s a way out now,’ said Aaron, when that group had been vanquished.

The survivors decided to test out a narrow crawlspace that led to a larger opening.

Carol, who was claustrophobic, panted nervously as she followed the group.

Connie [Lauren Ridloff] took her hand and spelled into it, ‘You are O.K.’

Darryl was the first to make it through and he instructed the others to follow his voice.

Despite her panic, Carol managed to get to him, but Jerry [Cooper Andrews] got stuck for a moment, with zombies nipping at his feet.

They all ended up on a precipice high above the zombies, into which Daryl dropped his torch.

The group then made it to the entrance of the cave, and found a final enclosure supported by wooden planks.

Magna paced around, and Aaron asked her if she was okay, considering she hadn’t slept much.

She admitted she’d been longing for her girlfriend Yumiko [Eleanor Matsuura], with whom she’d just fought.

Kelly then uncovered a box of dynamite in their path, and was cautioned to cover it up.

Soon Darryl managed to create a hole in the man-made structure, and daylight entered.

Everyone prepared to get out, but then Carol skittered away, clutching a stick of dynamite with which to destroy half of Alpha’s horde.

Darryl went after her, and saved her from tumbling to her death.

‘You’re gonna get yourself killed,’ he admonished Carol.

‘She killed my boy,’ Carol cried, referring to Henry, her former fiancé’s son.

She scrambled toward Daryl, but dropped the dynamite, which exploded and rocked the cave.

Jerry and Aaron held the wooden mouth of the cave open with their bodies as Connie and Magna went back in to find Darryl and Carol.

Kelly got outside, and was set upon by Whisperers, whom she and Aaron then dispatched.

Inside, other Whisperers descended on Magna, who held things down with Connie until Carol, Jerry and Daryl got outside.

That’s when the rest of the dynamite blew up, trapping Magna and Connie inside and possibly killing them.

Daryl immediately tried to pull rocks off the pile created over the cave’s mouth, which Aaron mournfully admitted it would take ‘a week to clear.’

Distraught, Kelly urged everyone to leave the area so they weren’t attacked by Whisperers or zombies who’d heard the explosion.

‘We can’t save them if we’re dead,’ she implored, as Daryl reluctantly climbed down.

He pointed an angry finger at Carol, and tried to walk past her as she cried.

‘Go ahead and say it to me,’ Carol whimpered, grabbing at him. ‘I deserve it. Please, just say it to me. You were right about everything. Just say it.’

He shrunk away from her hands and kept walking as she begged him: ‘No, please. You cared about her, and now she’s gone because of me. Please just say it. Please say it. Please.’

Daryl turned back to the group, his eyes red and his face shell-shocked.

‘Go home,’ he said blankly. ‘Tell the others we found the horde.’

‘Where are you going to be?’ Jerry asked.

‘They got out before us,’ Daryl said, walking into the weeds. ‘There’s got to be another way in.’
