‘You validate what unconditional love really means’: Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell held back tears as they presented their emotional vows on Animal Planet’s TV wedding special
Bindi and her professional wakeboarder husband tied the knot at Australia Zoo, on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, on March 25.
The family had planned the wedding for nearly a year, but decided at the last minute to hold a ‘small ceremony’ without guests due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chandler was first to read his vows to the Wildlife Warrior, which included a cheeky reference to the Australia Zoo family’s signature khaki attire.
‘Beautiful Bindi Sue, almost seven years ago when we met here at the zoo, I had no idea the adventure that would be waiting for us,’ he began.
‘You are the most beautiful person alive, inside and out, my favourite thing about you is your unending kindness for everyone – whether it’s caring for an animal in need or paying someone a compliment to brighten their day.’
He concluded: ‘I am the luckiest man in the world to marry you – living our best life filled with love, wildlife and lots of khaki. I love you with everything I have.’

‘When I sat down to write my vows I started by sharing all the ways you make my life beautiful and I found myself writing close to a thousand words,’ Bindi began.
‘It amazes me daily that you are so willing and excited to be part of our wild world. You really are my soulmate,’ she laughed.
Bindi’s voice quavered as she held back tears, interrupting herself to say sorry that she was becoming emotional: ‘I promise to share an “I love you” before I sleep each night, no matter what our date has brought.
‘Chandler, thank you for loving me! You jump into every moment with me and validate what unconditional love really means.
‘My husband, my teammate and partner in conservation. To quote our favourite show, “I love you and I like you”,’ she finished, referencing American sitcom Parks and Recreation.
