The Voice Australia finally gets a 2020 air date – after halting production in March amid the coronavirus pandemic

The Voice Australia has finally gotten a 2020 air date.  

The Channel Nine singing competition is due on air on May 24, according to a report in TV Blackbox this week. 

The program will welcome a new cast, with Darren McMullen and Renee Bargh stepping in to host for the departed Sonia Kruger.

The winner will take home a record contract with EMI Music and a handsome $100,000 in prize money. 

The announcement comes after on filming of season nine as suspended in March due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Coaches Guy Sebastian and Kelly Rowland, and new host Renee Bargh, were all still overseas at the time.

The Playoff rounds were scheduled to be recorded in front of a studio audience at Bulldog Park in Sydney’s west on March 26 and 27.  

A Nine spokesperson confirmed the news to Daily Mail Australia.

‘Filming of The Voice has been temporarily postponed in the wake of the Coronavirus and new Government protocols,’ they said.
