How Lisa McCune was pictured kissing co-star Teddy Tahu Rhodes in 2012

Blue Heelers star Lisa McCune surprised fans this week by revealing she was still living with her ex-husband, Tim Disney, despite breaking up years ago.

But this isn’t the first time the Gold Logie winner, 49, has defied tradition when it comes to her private life.

From a still-unexplained kiss with her co-star to dodging personal questions, Lisa has gone to great lengths to keep out of the headlines.

The actress shot to fame at the age of 22 on Blue Heelers, starring as Maggie Doyle on the top-rating police drama from 1993 to 2000.

She married props handler Tim in 2000, and they went on to welcome three children – sons Archer, 18, and Oliver, 16, and daughter Remy, 14.

In 2012, she was pictured kissing New Zealand opera singer Teddy Tahu Rhodes, her co-star in the stage production of the musical South Pacific.

The photos were splashed across the tabloids and dubbed ‘scandalous’ because she was still married as far as the public was concerned.

She made a conscious decision not to address the matter, and explained her reasoning to The Daily Telegraph five years later.

‘I was getting advice saying, “Make statements” and I just thought, “No, I don’t need to, because it’s my life,”‘ she said in March 2017.

‘For me personally, I have always been open and happy to talk about my babies when they were born and my marriage, and then I hit a speed bump,’ she added.

‘I went, “All of a sudden, this is not coming out in a positive way”, and I rethought it.’

Lisa did not announce her separation from Tim when she was caught kissing Teddy, leading some publications to speculate the couple had an ‘open marriage’.

‘That gives me the giggles. I think the description [open marriage] is hysterical. It does make me laugh when I read that,’ she was quoted as saying at the time.

The intensely private star admires actors who keep their personal lives out of the headlines, such as Hugo Weaving and Sam Neill.

‘Every time I see them do something, I believe them because I don’t know who they slept with last night, and I really like that. I hate knowing that [actors] go to the gym,’ she said in the 2017 interview.

It comes after Lisa revealed the very unusual co-parenting arrangement she shares with ex-husband Tim.

Despite no longer being a couple, they happily live together in Melbourne with their three teenage children.

‘We all live on one property so we’re here for the kids – we have to because our work is so all over the place,’ she told the Australian Women’s Weekly.

She added: ‘Tim and I are very much dual parenting. We are all over them as parents. I think it takes two people a lot of the time.’

The four-time Gold Logie winner, 49, insisted there was no tension in the household, saying: ‘As a family, we’re talking a lot. I’m insisting everybody have dinner together.’

It comes after the How to Stay Married star told the Herald Sun earlier this month that living with three teenagers can be a lot to manage.

‘I have three teenagers who don’t particularly really want to hear anything that I have to say, they’re just interested in their friends!’ she said.

‘They have been spending far too much time gaming and watching series and their online life is very strong.

‘And there’s complaints about how much internet we have got at certain times.’
