Timm Hanly opens up about his sobriety

For years he’s been known for having a good time during a night out.

But former Bachelorette star Timm Hanly has now quit drinking and been embracing sobriety for months. 

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, Timm, 28, said he decided to become sober after realising his binge drinking was out of control.

‘I wasn’t a daily drinker, more of a weekend binge drinker, but it would set me back for ages,’ he explained.

Since becoming sober, Timm says he is ‘the happiest he ever been in his life’ and finally ‘clear-headed’.

The tattooed larrikin said sobriety was a good place to be in and he is on a mission to stay sober until the end of the year. 

 

The 28-year-old Melbourne-based lad has been keeping himself busy working in construction and keeping fit.

‘I’m running 5km a day for 5 days,’ he explained. Timm is currently on his third day of doing 10km for 10 days, before he attempts to run 15kms.

He is also gearing up to launch his own 80s-inspired clothing line, a brand called FrontRunner, in the coming weeks.

Timm surprised fans when he announced he was quitting alcohol on his Instagram stories on Tuesday.

‘I am very in touch with myself at the moment and I think a massive part of it is being sober for the last couple of months,’ he said.

‘I think when your mind’s clear and you know what you want the universe works in your favour, hey?’

‘If you are good to yourself. You’re in control of your own thoughts,’ he added.

Timm rose to fame after he was placed runner-up on Angie Kent’s season of The Bachelorette last year.

However, he will have a second chance at finding love when he appears on Channel 10’s spin-off Bachelor In Paradise later this year.
