Brie Larson reveals she lost out on a role in the Terminator reboot after getting a flat tire… and failed auditions for Star Wars and the Hunger Games

Brie Larson opened up about some of the high-profile roles she didn’t get in a clip from her inaugural YouTube video posted Thursday.

The 30-year-old Captain Marvel actress was reminded of missing out on a major role in a Terminator reboot after she got a flat tire just before the audition.

Her admission was just a small part of the video, which compiled a selection of the conversations she’ll be releasing on her new YouTube channel.

Brie seemed to be inspired to think about auditions after a short clip of her interviewing the Mexican vlogger Juanpa Zurita.

He excitedly spoked about ‘the beauty of the internet,’ which was its lack of boundaries and barriers.

‘There’s no auditions,’ he said excitedly, which struck a positive not with her.

‘There’s no audition!’ she repeated. ‘Why didn’t I do this sooner?!’

‘I auditioned for Star Wars too!’ Brie chimed in.

‘How’d that go?’ he asked. ‘We want to know about that! We want to hear those stories.’

‘I auditioned for Hunger Games. I auditioned for the Terminator reboot,’ she added.

‘I actually was thinking about the Terminator reboot today because I got a flat tire and I was like, “Oh, the last time I got a flat tire was when I was driving into my audition for Terminator, got a flat tire at the audition, and then didn’t get the job.”‘

Brie didn’t specify whether she was auditioning for the role that eventually went to Emilia Clarke in the critically reviled Terminator: Genisys (2015) or the role played by Mackenzie Davis in last year’s better reviewed Terminator: Dark Fate, which fared even worse at the box office.

The actress also didn’t say which Star Wars film she auditioned for, though she likely auditioned for the lead role of Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games, which ultimately went to Jennifer Lawrence and helped cement her star status.

Not mentioned were Brie’s own astounding successes.

After starring in the critically acclaimed independent film Short Term 12 in 2013, she led the dark drama Room in 2015, which earned her an Academy Award.

She followed that up with a lead role in the blockbuster Kong: Skull Island in 2017, before playing the title character in the comic book film Captain Marvel, who also made a pivotal appearance in last year’s Avengers: Endgame.
