Bebe Rexha reveals she was almost ‘married off’ when she was a teenager

Bebe Rexha has revealed she was almost ‘married off’ when she was a teenager. 

The singer, 31, revealed she had men asking to ‘take my hand in marriage’ as she explained how in Albanian culture women tend to get married ‘super young’. 

Bebe, whose mother Bukurije tied the knot at 17, described how her mum ‘fought’ against traditions to help her pursue her career in the music industry.  

Bebe told The Daily Star: ‘It’s completely changed now, it’s so much more modern and women have more rights and stuff like that, but when I was younger there were literally guys trying to take my hand in marriage. It was part of the culture.

‘It’s like, you marry an Albanian and you get married super young and you have kids. 

‘Growing up I wasn’t allowed to have a voice or speak at the table and stuff like that, but my mum fought for me a lot and she was like, “My daughter is not getting married off, what the hell”.’

Bebe added it wasn’t until she was 23 that she had her first kiss, which she described as ‘very bad’. 

The songstress is now loved-up with beau Keyan Safyari, 37. 

The couple first sparked dating rumours in March last year after they were seen holding hands during a night out in Los Angeles. 

Earlier this month, Bebe opened up about her ‘fluid’ sexuality and teased a previous secret romance with an unnamed female celebrity. 

‘What I believe about sexuality is this: it’s a scale,’ Bebe told GayTimes in an article published on Wednesday.

‘Have I gone out with girls before? Yes. Have I dated girls? Yes, I have. And famous ones, but I’m not naming them. Even though people would be living for it — no!’ the Baby, I’m Jealous hitmaker added. 

Last year, Bebe defined herself as ‘fluid’ in a separate interview, saying: ‘I just want to find someone I love and who loves me — and I don’t care if that’s a boy or a girl.
