The next series ‘will be supercharged with a whole new attitude and an extreme new course’, the network says.

It follows news Nine won’t be renewing the drama series Amazing Grace.

The network announced as it unveiled its 2022 programming slate last Wednesday that the show would not be renewed for a second season, reports TV Blackbox

The series, produced by Playmaker Media, starred Kate Jenkinson as Grace Cresswell, a midwife working at a birthing centre whose life becomes chaotic once her daughter, whom she gave up for adoption 17 years ago, turns up as a patient.

‘Amazing Grace performed strongly for Channel Nine but we have made the decision that it won’t return next year, our sincere thanks to the extremely talented cast and crew who delivered a show that we are very proud of,’ a spokesperson said.

‘Today we announced two new Australian dramas, Underbelly: Vanishing Act and After The Verdict that will commence production later this year, continuing our commitment to invest in Australian drama.’

Amazing Grace also featured Sigrid Thornton and Alex Dimitriades.

Its axing marks the third drama series that was not renewed by Nine recently, as SeaChange and Halifax: Retribution also ended after one season.

Nine has renewed the majority of its reality shows for 2022, including Celebrity Apprentice and the highly popular Married At First Sight.

The new season of MAFS will see the return of Puerto Rican sexologist Alessandra Rampolla, and veteran experts John Aiken and Mel Schilling.
