Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway mocks Pussycat Dolls performance complaints

Their show garnered 68 Ofcom complaints when it returned last week thanks to the Pussycat Dolls’ sizzling performance.

But Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway appeared to mock the backlash it received with a hilarious sketch featuring guest announcer Rob Brydon.

The Welsh comedian, 54, made a joke about being willing to wear a skimpy leather corset and thigh-high PVC boots, in what appeared to be the ITV show’s attempt to brush off the furore.

The American girl group appeared on the entertainment show last week to perform a medley of their hits and new single React.

Their performance took a humorous turn as Ant and Dec, both 44, attempted to ‘censor’ their steamy routine, in a response to the hundred of Ofcom complaints from their X Factor appearance back in December.

However, their efforts were in vein as almost 70 viewers complained to the media regulator over the girls’ raunchy ensembles and provocative dance moves.

But a week later, the Geordie duo appeared to laugh off the drama as they took part in the funny skit at the start of the show.

After being introduced, Rob said: ‘I do have one request. I saw the Pussycat Dolls on last week’s show. If you think I’m going to dress in a leather corset…’

Ant and Dec interjected, saying: ‘We wouldn’t dream of asking you to do it.’

With Rob sating: ‘Let me finish Dec. If you think I’m going to dress in a leather corset and PVC boots and perform three minutes of highly explicit dancing, you’d be absolutely right.

‘All I’m saying is, if the script calls for it and people wish their girlfriend was hot like me, I’ll do it.’

The joke was met with laughter from the audience as the presenting duo saw the funny side too.

The girl group appeared on the first show of the new Saturday Night Takeaway series dressed in scantily-clad ensembles.

The Geordie duo attempted to ‘censor’ the routine after begging the girls to tone down’ the sex appeal, with the pair holding up a huge ITV ‘disruption’ sign to cover the screen, only for the girls to burst through it with the use of their hands and heels.

As the girls moved across the studio, Ant and Dec removed their suit jackets and tried to place them on Nicole Scherzinger and Kimberly Wyatt.

When that failed, the cheeky hosts started taking off their shirts as the audience cheered, before Dec got down on the floor so Ant could pull his trousers off over his shoes.

Both presenters were left wearing white vests and striped boxer shorts, with sock garters on their calves as the number came to an end.

However, despite their efforts to keep the show PG, 68 people still complained.

Ant and Dec’s reaction came following the band’s 419 complaints from angry X Factor fans who accused their performance of looking like a ‘strip show’.

Ofcom also received three complaints on Wednesday night over the girl group’s live performance on BBC’s The One Show.

Mailonline have contacted Ofcom, Saturday Night Takeaway and the BBC for comment.
