Gemma Collins shares adorable throwback with mum Joan on Mother’s Day

Earlier this week her mum was rushed to hospital after contracting pneumonia.

But Gemma Collins, 39, showed she was staying positive as she shared an adorable throwback snap on Sunday to celebrate Mother’s Day. 

The sweet photo shows Gemma as a child alongside her gorgeous mother Joan Collins, now 65.

Joan looks radiant in the snap in an all white ensemble with her brunette locks pulled back away from her face.

Earlier this week Gemma revealed that her mum was been rushed to hospital with pneumonia.

The TOWIE star took to Instagram Stories on Monday to share a snap of her mum’s hand attached to a drip, as she praised NHS nurses for taking care of her.

Gemma also revealed that Joan has been at higher risk of contracting an infection as she suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, especially in the current climate as the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread.

Gemma first revealed that Joan had been hospitalised when she shared of her hand attached to the drip, along with a caption: ‘Love u Mum.’

The star then shared another snap of the drip, with the caption: ‘Thank you to all the nurses who helped my mum she’s had pneumonia and on the mend.

‘NHS thank you thank you so over stretched right now my mum has rheumatoid arthritis and is high risk to infection.’ [sic]

Gemma has previously spoken about her mum’s health struggles, and just last year she was hospitalised for pneumonia. 

She previously described her mum’s health battle as ‘two years of hell,’ telling The Sun: ‘I always tried to be really strong, so when I was with her I was happy, upbeat, like ”Come on mum, you’re gonna be alright!”

‘Then I’d leave the house, get in my car and cry for hours.

‘I used to ring my friends and say ‘I just don’t know what I can do to help my mum,’ it was the worst thing.’

Gemma has been openly documenting her attempts to combat the coronavirus, including numerous trips to the supermarket to stock up on the essentials.

She bellowed ‘Covid-19, Covid-19, Operation Covid-19’ as they prepared to go off and get their haul. 

Gemma said: ‘We are being sensible, I’ve called upon @thisgirlcanorganise. I didn’t want to get caught up in it all. We are off to get some food shopping. 

‘We are taking no chances. The message I want to get across is everyone starts being sensible, doing what the government are saying… 

‘Wearing the gloves, using the gel, washing your hands, keeping your distance from anyone with a cough or the flu.’
